I’m sorry I haven't gotten back to everyone lately. I've been navigating some heavy challenges behind the scenes, but I wanted to sit down and give you a real, honest update.
It’s July, and I know I originally told you these radios would ship out mid-July. Many of you are frustrated and looking for an update, and I genuinely apologize because that mid-July date isn't going to happen. I added extra time thinking everything would be done sooner, but things haven't gone the way I planned, and that is on me.
First, the good news. Two weeks ago, we finally finished testing and fixing every single tweak and bug on the motherboard. The radio is 100% fixed, working perfectly, and performing better than I could have imagined. Taking this extra time means we gained a far superior radio that I feel completely comfortable putting my name on and backing with a full warranty.
The bad news is dealing with supplier bottlenecks. My supplier for the LCD screens is backed up, and they can’t guarantee the complete order quantity at once. However, because I already had some LCD screens premade, the first batch is going to ship out sooner than the rest. Production starts around the 15th, and we can get a solid number of them completed in 30 to 40 days.
The first batch will ship late August. The next batch will ship late September. I will be shipping these out one by one as they are built and tested individually based on the order list. Please hold off on emailing to ask for your exact spot or estimated time—I can't predict that since they are made one by one, but they are going out as fast as I can physically build them.
I want to be completely transparent about what’s been happening, because this delay has turned into a massive hurdle financially and personally.
When the delay happened, some folks went straight to their banks to file chargeback disputes instead of just asking me for a refund. Because of those chargebacks, Shopify (my website and payment platform) placed a hold on all my funds until September pending review. Your money is held safe by Shopify—I don't pocket it, and I can’t even touch it until September. Because of that hold, I had to personally borrow a huge amount of cash to cover the massive minimum order quantities required by my suppliers just to get production started.
I’ve seen comments thinking I’m pocketing your money, but the truth is my profit on these barely covers a full tank of gas, and that’s before taxes. I did this pre-order strictly to guarantee you guys a spot on the list and to partially fund the production. If you want a refund, I have always said I will gladly give it to you out of the funds being held, but those bank chargebacks completely set the entire process back.
On top of the financial hit, I have been going through some severe personal setbacks and compounding bad luck over the last few months, including all my vehicles breaking down back-to-back. I’ve had to make a lot of sacrifices, including practically living out of my shop, just to keep this project moving forward and make ends meet.
If that wasn't enough, I’m also dealing with industry pushback. I’m getting threatened with lawsuits by other companies in the OBS community—one literally demanded I raise my prices because I am undercutting them to give you guys quality parts for less. I also have companies buying my unique parts just to copy them and act like they are the originators. I respect anyone making 3D printed parts, but the behind-the-scenes politics and negativity on social media are exhausting.
I hear people talking trash in the comments, but nobody mentions the good we try to do. I paid out of my own pocket for the BellTech Suspension raffle as a "sorry for the delay" gift, and offered a free item to those who ordered before May. I don't have sponsors footing the bill for that. I’ve also consistently given money and radios to charities, truck shows for kids with autism, foster kids, toy runs, and men's mental health organizations. Supporting men's mental health is a cause that is deeply personal to me. I've battled my own challenges, as many of us men do, and I just want to do some good for this community. It hurts to be painted as a scammer when I am doing everything in my power to get this done right.
I created this new email domain strictly to separate you guys—the ones who actually spent your hard-earned money—from the noise on social media. I’m stepping back from my social pages right now because I need to focus 100% of my attention on building these radios and communicating directly with you here. If you message me on Instagram or Facebook, I probably won't see it. This email is the best way to reach me.
I’ve been trying to record a video to explain all of this face-to-face, but honestly, it’s been a heavy few weeks and I wanted to make sure I got you the facts in writing first. I promise I will get a video out to you soon. Also, to clarify: some of you noted the shipping date at checkout was incorrect. I'm still new to making backend changes on the website, but the full item description did state that the radios would be shipped in July.
I am genuinely sorry for this delay. If you are pissed off, tired of waiting, or would rather just buy one when they are physically in stock, please reply to this email and request a refund. I will issue it this week. Just know that if you back out, your spot will be restocked, and because stock is extremely limited, I cannot guarantee there will be any available again until next year. These radios are getting made regardless, though honestly, after this batch is done, I don't know if I will have it in me to continue making them.
Thank you to everyone who is sticking around. I appreciate the love and support more than you know. Thanks to you, I have a small shop where I can work and try to make cool shit for the OBS community. Please bear with me while I get these finished. I’ll be reaching back out to everybody this week.
Thank you and God Bless,
Brandon GM OBS SHOP
